Ultimus Named Finalist for 2005 NCTA 21 Awards

The Leader in Business Process Management Named Finalist for Software Company of the Year by the North Carolina Technology Association for the 3rd Consecutive Year

CARY, N.C. — October 20, 2005 – Ultimus, the leading provider of Business Process Management (BPM) and Workflow Automation software and services that enable the shortest time to value, today announced that it has been named a finalist for Software Company of the Year for the 2005 NCTA 21 Awards presented by The North Carolina Technology Association (NCTA) and Grant Thornton, a leading accounting, tax and business advisory firm. Winners will be recognized at the 11th Annual Awards Gala ceremony on Thursday, November 17, 2005 at the Embassy Suites hotel and conference center in Cary, N.C.

A pioneer in Business Process Management and workflow automation, Ultimus is a global software company that enables enterprises worldwide to increase their efficiencies by modeling, automating, managing, and optimizing every business process. Now in its seventh generation, the Ultimus BPM Suite enables organizations to maximize efficiency in critical business processes by ensuring that efforts are streamlined throughout the organization and managed in an online workflow environment. Adaptive Discovery™, Ultimus’ latest patented technology, is a revolutionary new approach to BPM. It enables organizations to deploy automated processes without requiring a complete model of all possible rules, routes and roles, enabling organizations to deploy critical business processes faster and more proficiently.

“Each year, NCTA has the distinct pleasure of recognizing the outstanding achievements of our state’s technology companies and its IT leaders,” said Joan Myers, president and chief executive officer of NCTA. “The NCTA 21 Awards showcases the best in technology. Ultimus has been part of these awards for the last four years and the amount and quality of the applications for this year’s awards speaks volumes about the state of the IT industry in North Carolina and its impact globally. We wish the best of luck to Ultimus as well as all of the vendors who are participating in this year’s awards.”

The NCTA 21 Awards are the oldest and most prestigious technology awards in North Carolina and recognize outstanding contributions that information technology companies and individuals have made over the past year to the industry, community and state. Grant Thornton directed the awards selection process earlier this month in collaboration with past and present NCTA chairpersons.

“Ultimus is thrilled to be nominated as a finalist by such a prestigious organization such as North Carolina Technology Association,” said Rashid Khan, CEO and co-founder of Ultimus, Inc. “This area continues to expand with leading-edge technologies. Having an award to honor this region is undoubtedly a testament to the value of the people and organizations in this area. Additionally, having Ultimus nominated for the third consecutive year shows the dedication of our employees as well as our company to this region.”

The awards are grouped in five categories: technology industry awards, stage of development awards, functional awards, leadership awards and excellence awards. In addition, an Outstanding Achievement Award will be presented at the gala. This year’s theme is “A Sea of Opportunity” and the program begins with a welcoming reception at 6:00 p.m. followed by dinner and the presentation of awards.
